Volunteer Spotlight – Dawn K.

Hope Builders Stories

Meet Dawn, this month’s featured volunteer. Dawn has been involved with HopeBUILDERS for several years and we are thankful for her dedication to our organization and our mission.  Continue reading to learn a little bit more about Dawn.
How long have you volunteered with HopeBUILDERS?

I have served on the Board of Trustees for 8 years.

What are some of your responsibilities within the organization?

I am the current Secretary as well as a volunteer on Saturday ramp projects.  I also enjoy bringing lunch for the work crew.

Why do you volunteer with HopeBUILDERS?

I find it very fulfilling to see a project from start to finish, in one day.  It’s fascinating to watch it come together – and the clients are so grateful.  They are awestruck when they see it completed by the end of the day.

Any favorite memories from volunteering?

I’ve been a part of all three Mega Ramps.  They are enormous – and they take so much planning, pre-work, and people to make them successful.  It’s a privilege to do my small part.

If you were to encourage someone else to volunteer with us, what would you say?

Give it a try!  There are lots of tasks – both basic and complex – so anyone can help.  Plus, it gave me an excuse to get my very own drill.
