COVID-19 Updates

June 9, 2021

Given the recent CDC updated guidelines regarding mask recommendations for individuals who have been vaccinated for COVID-19, HopeBUILDERS has updated our guidelines. Our updated volunteer waiver & release form provides an opportunity for volunteers to volunteer their vaccination status. Volunteers who are not vaccinated or who choose not to disclose their vaccination status must complete an additional health questionnaire document prior to volunteering.

Keeping in mind our continued COVID-19 health & safety guidelines, the HopeBUILDERS Board has now approved:

  • Resuming ramp or outdoor projects utilizing 15+ people
  • Resuming longer-term indoor projects if confirmation is received from the client and all volunteers & staff that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

The HopeBUILDERS Board has now approved Step 2 of the plan to reengage our services in the community. With homeowner approval / permission (and the option to delay, if preferred), we will proceed with:

  • Indoor Client Site Visits (1-2 people)
  • Small ramp projects utilizing 15 individuals or less
  • Short term indoor home repair projects (1-2 days) with very small groups of people (2-3 people)

While maintaining the current board approved health and sanitation guidelines (dated 5/14/2020) we will implement the following updated/clarifying precautions:

  • We will strongly encourage any household members present to not only maintain social distancing but to stay in another part of the home when at all possible. We will also strongly suggest that the client and any members of the household wear a mask when it is necessary to be in close proximity to HopeBUILDERS volunteers or staff.
  • We will use the already established health questionnaire as a guide to verify that no one in the household is ill or has a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 before assigning staff or volunteers to an indoor project.
  • We will clearly state if a project includes indoor work and will always defer to the decisions of volunteers as to their level of comfort in volunteering indoors.

  • Sanitizing tools and workspaces and wearing masks
  • Maintaining social distancing when at all possible
  • Implementing a health questionnaire for all staff and volunteers.

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to unfold, HopeBUILDERS will be making the following temporary changes to make sure we are following CDC guidelines and doing the right thing for the communities we serve. Out of an abundance of caution, and with the interest of our volunteers, business partners and clients in mind, please expect the following short-term changes to our activities. We will be completing projects currently in process. We are suspending NEW projects for the short term and will be assessing plans based on CDC recommendations.
