Major Home Repairs Grant
HopeBUILDERS Home Repair is pleased to announce that the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka (FHLBank Topeka) has awarded a major four-year grant through its Affordable Housing Program to HopeBUILDERS through its member bank Capitol Federal® Savings Bank. This grant provides rehabilitation funds so that major repairs can be made to owner-occupied homes with income less than 80% area median income. Potential major repairs may include roofs, guttering, exterior home repairs, exterior windows/door repair/replacement, major accessibility projects (ramps and bathroom remodels) as well as potential other minor work coupled with at least one major project. Work may be done by contractors or allows HopeBUILDERS to leverage its strong volunteer-led projects and extend its ability to serve qualified homeowners in the KC metro area. This grant will support rehabilitation to homes located in the Kansas City Metro area, with priority to homes in Kansas.
Minimum qualification requirements:
- Total household income (all occupants 18 years or older) less than 80% area median income (AMI).
- Owner(s) occupy the property for which work is requested. [Note that all persons on deed must reside at residence.]
Other considerations:
- Elderly
- People with disabilities
- Veterans or spouses of deceased veterans, and
- Larger homes (three or more bedrooms)
