Letter from the Executive Director – April 2020

Hope Builders Letter From the Executive Director

April 13, 2020

Dear Friends of HopeBUILDERS,

In this unique season when we are all spending a lot of time indoors, I’m remembering those clients that HopeBUILDERS has already been able to serve, thanks to your support. Because of you, there are older adults and individuals with disabilities that are sheltering at home with a bathroom that newly meets their needs, or with a wheelchair ramp that allows them to have regular time outdoors. They have the increased confidence and ability to safely move around and outside their home. Thank you for making these things a reality for those we serve.

As many of you know, in mid-March, the HopeBUILDERS Board of Trustees made the difficult decision to suspend any new projects for the short term and we will continue to assess our plans based on CDC recommendations. While we are not starting new projects, our virtual office remains open and our work continues including ongoing client intake and planning for future projects.

While we are not completing any projects, our client wait list continues to grow. We’d like to ask you to consider supporting our mission by making a donation online here. Thank you for your continued support of the important work we do in the community – it will allow us to serve as many clients as we can once it is safe to do so.

Many of our clients are some of the most susceptible in our community to COVID-19 – older adults and those with compromised health situations. These families are also operating on low and fixed incomes. In addition to suspending projects in order to protect the health and safety of our clients and volunteers, HopeBUILDERS is in the process of reaching out to our recent clients and those that are on our waiting list. In this time of extreme isolation, if our clients or potential clients need to be connected to other resources in the community, we want to do our part to help. We also want to play a small role in reducing the isolation of our clients by sending them notes and videos by HopeBUILDERS volunteers. If you would like to participate in this activity by writing a note or recording a video for a HopeBUILDERS client, you can sign up here.

Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these uncertain times together.

In Service,

Jamie Roach, Executive Director
