KANSAS CITY, MO – January 27th, 2025 – HopeBUILDERS Home Repairs, a nonprofit
dedicated to providing accessibility modifications and critical home repairs for older adults and
people with disabilities, proudly announces the appointment of Jill Gaikowski as its new
Executive Director. With more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership and a proven track record of
driving strategic growth, Gaikowski is set to guide HopeBUILDERS into an exciting new chapter
of expanded impact.

Gaikowski is best known for her innovative approach to nonprofit management and her ability to
build sustainable, high-impact programs. Jill is the Founder and former Executive Director of
HappyBottoms, Kansas City’s Diaper Bank. Her expertise in partnership building, volunteer
mobilization, and operational strategy directly aligns with HopeBUILDERS’ mission to create
safe, accessible homes for vulnerable populations.

“I am honored to join HopeBUILDERS and lead this incredible organization,” said Gaikowski.
“The work being done to help individuals remain in their homes safely is transformative. I look
forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and working with the community to
expand our reach and impact.”

Since its founding in 2000, HopeBUILDERS has served over 1,000 clients across 75 zip codes
in the Metro area, including accessibility modifications, safety upgrades, and critical home
repairs. These efforts ensure that clients can age in place with dignity and independence. The
need for these services is growing, with the population of older adults in the Kansas City metro
expected to increase by 38% by 2030.

“Jill’s leadership and vision make her an outstanding choice to guide HopeBUILDERS into the
future,” said April Darbyshire, Board President of HopeBUILDERS. “Her ability to grow
programs, build relationships, and secure resources will allow us to meet the increasing demand
for safe, livable homes in our community. We are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”

Gaikowski’s experience in community engagement, advocacy, and strategic planning will play a
vital role in advancing HopeBUILDERS’ mission. Under her leadership, the organization aims to
expand its capacity to serve more individuals and address the intersection of health, housing,
and community stability.
